Senior Pastor
Paul Thomasson
Dyane and I are VERY excited to be coming to Caldwell!

I look forward to meeting every person in our new church. In fact, I hope we can schedule a time for a face-to-face home visit with every member (who wishes to do so) within the first 6 months of my arrival. By so doing I hope to more effectively move from being the “new preacher” to being the new pastor.
Dyane was born and raised in Houston. Additionally, much of her family comes from Navasota/Millican/College Station and we have property in College Station. Dyane is a teacher who earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston.

I was born in Texas City and lived there much of my life. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Religion from Southwestern University in 1980 and a Master of Divinity Degree from SMU in 1984. I was first ordained in 1982.

We have two children, both married, and two grandsons. Our daughter Ashley and her husband Steve, along with grandson Teddy, live in College Station. Our son Matthew and his wife Danielle, along with grandson Wesley, live in Dallas. Matthew and Danielle met at the Wesley Foundation at A&M. Ashley, Steve, Matthew, and Danielle are all teachers.

Every church is different. In the last 40 years I have served as a Pastor of 8 churches. 3 were “County Seat” churches, perhaps similar to Caldwell. All were pleasant experiences (for both the church and my family) where God gave great blessings. I loved them all and continue to keep them in my prayers.

Again, I am eager to meet and personally visit with each member of our church, and I strongly believe God will bless us all in the years ahead.

Youth/Children’s Director
Jan Maddocks:
What a blessing to join Caldwell FUMC staff as Children’s Ministry Director!  I hail from Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Bryan, Texas in 1985.  My children learned to polka at the Kolache Festival and now my grands enjoy at day in Caldwell each September, too.  I have two g   rown daughters that live in Austin, TX, and two incredibly perfect grands, Mia (age 6) and Jacob (age 3).
I have served children for many years through Big Brothers/Big Sister, Brazos Valley CASA, and Children’s Ministry at Aldersgate UMC in College Station.
I am excited to join with the families, staff and congregation of Caldwell FUMC to help children grown in their faith, by teaching that Jesus loves them and wants to be their best friend.
I am #8 of 10 kids and enjoy long telephone catch ups with my family, reading, travel, and college football (Go Buckeyes!)!

Church Pianist
Jesse Novak:
Jesse is a 2018 home-school graduate.  She moved from Dallas to Caldwell in 2003 with her family and calls Caldwell her home.  Jesse began piano lessons at age 12.  She studied for four years under Mr. John Weems, one of the most outstanding pre-collegiate piano teacher’s in the nation, before entering the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music to study under his wife, Mrs. Nancy Weems.  Mrs. Weems having retired, she is currently completing her Bachelor of Music degree under the tutelage of American classical pianist, Dr. Andrew Staupe.  Aside from performing classical music, Jesse loves playing hymns, bird watching, cross-stitching, and reading.

Music Administrator/Organist
Phillip Staggs
I have had the honor of playing the organ and directing the choir here at Caldwell FUMC for the last two and a half years and I love our congregation and the music we sing.  I am currently studying Business Administration at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, via the RELLIS Campus. Whoop!

I have been around music all my life, starting violin lessons at the age of five and piano at age six. My parents wished all their children to be well versed in classical music and play an instrument. I am number three of four children and my family has always played an important part in the music of the churches we have attended.

I started playing the organ in 2014 and fell in love with it, as I knew would, because it was a dream come true!  I have had the honor of studying with Christina Harmon for 8 years. I travelled to Europe with Ms. Harmon and the French Organ Music Seminar to learn the history of the pipe organ in both classical and liturgical forms.  I love spending time with my family and friends, travel, and sharing my love of music and praise.

Media Specialist
Chandler Perkins:
My family settled in Bryan Texas as far back as 5 generations ago, which is where I was born.  Growing up, I lived in several locations throughout the US due to my father’s career, such as Chicago, Boston, and Dallas.  My love of Texas has brought me back home, and God has blessed  me and my wife with a beautiful home in Brazos County along with our fur babies.  For hobbies, I share a love of discovering our beautiful state with my wife while going on RV trips and I also enjoy restoring old muscle cars.

I was raised in the United Methodist Church and enjoyed a very active membership in the youth fellowship as well as other organizations within the church as I grew.  My experiences within the church set a strong foundation of faith that has lasted all these years.

God has blessed me with graphic art and technical skills that I am excited to have the opportunity to utilize and make a positive contribution to the ministry of FUMC Caldwell.  I look forward to meeting all the members of the church and being an instrument for God’s work with this congregation.
