Senior Pastor- Wayne Calder: I come all the way from South Africa, and like many of you, I came from a “unchurched” family. After starting in youth ministry in South Africa, I was invited to study in the United States in 1988 to complete my Master’s Degree in Divinity at the Fuller Theological Seminary in California. I was ordained an elder in 1994. I served two United Methodist Churches in California as part of the Pacific Conference, and in 1996 I moved to Texas. After serving in Pasadena and South Houston, I was appointed to a church in Pearland where I served for ten years. I’m excited in having been appointed to Caldwell First United Methodist Church, and look forward to serving this great community. I am married to Terri Calder and have a married adult stepson and his wife, Ryan and Ashley. Terri and I are the proud Oupa and Ouma of three grandsons’, Allister, Ezra, and Rory. Outside of the Kingdom, my hobbies include traveling, racing, giant mining equipment and of course Boss 302 Mustangs. I hope you find my messages relevant and inspiring.
Youth Director – Leah Bennett: How many people can say that they have had the opportunity to serve in the Church that they grew up in? I’d venture to say that it doesn’t happen very often. Caldwell FUMC has always been home to me. I have been a part of this church since childhood. From Baptism to Sunday School, on to Confirmation and UMYF, and then on to marriage, FUMC Caldwell has been my home Church. I graduated from Caldwell High School in 1999 and a year later, I married the love of my life, Michael. Emily Christine joined our little family in April 2001. In 2007, God blessed our family again with Kaylee Danielle. We have made our home in Caldwell and our girls both attend Caldwell ISD schools. It is a joy and an honor to work with the children and youth in my hometown Church!
